The Royal United Services Institute for Defence Studies (RUSI) is organising a one day conference on Private Military Companies to be held at their centre in Whitehall, London.

The conference will take place on Wednesday, 24 October 2001. Further details will be published on RUSI's website in August but inquiries in the meantime can be addressed to the organiser, Mariyam Joyce-Hasham.

This is the first time that the issue of PMCs will be debated in an open forum in the UK and we welcome this initiative.
